We learn that a new fire company is in process of formation in this city, to be com posed entirely of Germans, and to be alto gether independent and self-supporting and not subject to the rules and regulations gov erning the fire department. They expect to ask no aid from the city except .what may be freely and unconditionally offered The company is to be composed of about forty men, and parties are now negotiating for a first class hand engine, guaranteed to throw a stream not less than two hundred feet. It is designed to station this engi ie somewhere in the vicinity of the wharves, not above Second street. The working ca pacity of the members composing the com pany is to be strictly looked after, and none will be admitte who would be likely to prove deficient in this important particularly movements of Republicans. We were informed yesterday that there would be a grand ' unification meeting at the City Hall this evening, which would be addressed by Geo. W. Price, Jr. We were also informed by a prominent candidate on the "Reformers' "ticket that they (the Reformers) had thoroughly can vassed the northern portion of the county, ...;,, r.rtmmpnfprt in naawell tnwnanin o r . f on Monday -of last week and closed in Holly yesterday. The result, he says, was satis factory in every respect. They propose to speak to-morrow in Grant township. Let Every Voter Bee that His Is Properly Registered. Two brothers, who had reeistered in the lower division of the First Ward previous tolhe election, went up yesterday to see if their names were all right on the books. The name of one of the brothers was found, but that of the other was not there, although they had both registered at the same time. They were informed by the Registrar for that precinct that the gen tleman alluded to made the fifty-first voter who had previously registered, but whose names could not now be found on the books. Let every Conservative and 'Democratic voter see that his name is properly regis- tered. niyrs court . . The following cases were disposed of yes terday morning. . Polly Harriss, charged with disorderly I conduct, submitted and judgment was sus- pended on payment of costs. George-Washington and Sarah DeRay, charged with cursing and quarreling on the streets, submitted and judgment was suspended outhc payment of costs, Dp niel Deals and Charlotte Destrack, charged with abusing Harriet Swan, were found guilty. Gens to Georgia, ' 1 The "irrepressible" Daniel O'Sullivun, who has served the city and county witty much earnestness and fidelity for a year or two past, in various capacities, but more especially in assisting in the work of keep ing our streets in good order, was yester- day, together with his family, granted a free pass by the city authorities to Atlanta, tia., our "City Fathers" not being so en tirely selfish as to wish to reap all the bene fit of Daniel's varied experience and accom plishments. Mad Doc Killed. . Mr. G. Fladger killed a furious mad dog at Ingram's Station, on the Carolina Central Railroad, on the 16th inst. Fortu nately, he had done no damage that coulfl he heard of. A son of Sol. W. Nash, keeper of the county jail, had two of his fingers cut off by a threshing machine on Monday. We are requested to state that there will be public speaking at Humphrey's, Harnett Township to-morrow (Thursday). German pic-nic at the Wilming ton Garden this evening, commencing at 4 o'clock. H. , Crawford, now on this station, has been promoted to a captaincy and has received his commission. 4 Two rare specimens of the finny tribe were subjected to our inspection on Monday, which were caught on the rocks at Masonboro Sound by Mr. John J. Hew lett There are what is known as the trig ger fish and the genuine gold fish, both in digenous to our waters. We stated in our last that Col. E. D. Hall would address the people at Point Caswell on Tuesday, the 28th inst. We are now requested to say that the pro posed meeting will take place to-morrow (Thursday, 23rd), and that Col. It appears that Allman had capiases for the arrest of Wil liamBon Gunter aifd his son. Andrew Gunter. That he went to Gunter's house to ahest them when they both attacked him, the old man with a rifle gun. A fight ensued; in which Allman was knoeked down and Gun ter mounted him. Allman drew his pistol and shot him three times while lying on the ground held by Gunter. Two of the shots took effect in the back and one in the head. Allman succeeded in getting loose and re treated back to Webster, from which place our informant writes. . . A correspondent of the Neveber bernian gives some account of the discussion last Saturday at Beaufort between Dr. Mar tin, the Conservative nominee for the Sen ate in Carteret, and Appleton Oaksmith, so-called independent, who is running in Radical interests. , The excitement was in tense.: Dr. Martin read from the public laws of North, Carolina the bill incorporating the Midland Railroad Company, in which Oak smith was styled "Appleton Oaksmith, Esq. , pf-Great Britain, France and Germany." JULY. 22, .1874. In reply Oaksmith stated the bill had been altered or interpolated, and that as original ly drawn, and passed by the Legislature did not read as ur. M. bad stated. Major J. A. Engelhard and Mr. S. D. Pool, Jr., affirmed for Col." Saunders, chief clerk of the Sen ate, and CoL Pool, chief clerk of the House. the correctness of the bill as passed by the legislature, and denounced as base nd slanderous the charge made by Oaksmith.
