The old postoffice quarters will present a lonely appearance after this morning. ; 7 Quite a large number of cases have been fixed for trial before the Mayor's Court this morning. The election exeitemeut has about all passed off and the community has settled down to its usual quietude. An adjourned regular meeting of the Wilmington S. F. E. Company No. 1, will be held this evening, at 8 o'clock. There is every indication of a gradual but decided improvement inusi nss, and a brisk fall trade is predicted. Yesterday was one of the, warmest dys of the season, the .thermome ter at the City Hall indicating 89 degrees at 3 P. M. Mr. William Little, editor of the" Florence Pioneer, was in the. city yesterday. He warmly congratulated our State on its late great victorj. Rev. Mr. Parkinson, who sailed on the Schooner Ben for New York, about ten days since, preached in the Methodist Church, South, at Smithville, being de tained there over night. Mr. P. has ar rived safely in New York. We reproduce this morning our tabular statement of the official vote of New Hanover county for the purpose of correct ing two or three errors in the spelling of names and one error in the vote of Caswell Township for Merrimon, in 1872; and also to supply a demand for extra copies of the paper which we were unable to supply yes terday. The Qmarranttne Queatton. . The Committee of physicians who went to Smithville yesterday morning to confer with Dr. Potter, the Quarantine Physician, in reference to allowing vessels from Ha vana and other infected ports to come up to this city, returned yesterday after noon. Tlley report the result of their visit and interview with Dr. Potter as being in every respect satisfactory, the latter show ing perfect willingness to listen to any sug gestions they might offer. After the Spanish Barque Anna had passed up on Tuesday Dr. P. reconsidered his permission and would have countermanded it, but found it was too late; and we understand that he will order her back to quarantine. . He' stated to the Committee that he would enforce the quar antine as rigidly as possible and that no fault will hereafter be" found on that score. The Committee will make a formal report to the Mayor to-day. ' Tbe Old North State.
