Ou Tuesday the fcupreme Court de clared in the ease of the University I vs. Mclver the validity of the Consti tutioniil amendments passed in 1873. The decision of a large majority of he Court was made up at the last term, but as the Chief Justice was absent aud it was desirable, the case being a constitutional one, to have all the Justices present, the opinion was not then promulgated. , The point in the case were these: 1st, was the amendment concerning the University duly ratified ? 2nd, supposing it to have been duly adopt ed, was the election of Truetees in conformity therewith ? The decision of the majority was rendered by Justice Bynum. It is a clear, direct and cogent opinion, and affirm the validity of the amendment and the' right of the Legislature to elect the Trustees. I Grbme, of this city, while sitting in the I composing room of the Richmond Whig office a few days since, was suddenly seized with an attack of vertigo, to which he was subject, and fell upon a bot stove. When discovered he was so badly burned, espe cially on one of his arms, that amputation had to be resorted to on Tuesday.
