Savage was arraigned before Justice Gard-

tion of the Court that one-fourth in number
of the creditors of the defendant do not pe

amount of the debts of the defendant prov
able against the estate of the defendant in

Robbery ou Bflddle Sound.

The residence of Mr. Jas. A. Hewlett,' on
Middle Sound, ia this county, was entered
on Saturday evcjling last,' some time be
tween 7 and 9 o'clock, during the temporary
absence of the family, and robbed of A
trunk containing money amounting to
about $100 in greenbacks and $10 in specie,
besides notes to the value .of $185, , The
trunk was subsequently found in the woods,
near by, with -a quantity of jewelry, and
some papers of value remaining unmolested.
Suspicion pointed to one David Nixon,; col
ored, as the party guilty of the robbery and
he was thereupon arrested and required to
give a justified bond in the sum of $1,000
for his appearance before Justice Jno. G.
Wagner on Thursday next, in default of
which he was lodged in jail, i - -
When arrested with the money in his pos
session, Nixon declared that it was given
to him by a colored man named Charles
Harger, to be taken care of for him. Har
ger was also arrested and ordered to give
bond in the sum of $500 for his appearance
at the same time with Nixon.
