In the General Synod? of the Re formed Church, at its session in Jersey City, N. J., Saturday, the Committee on conference with churches of oiher denominations made very voluminous and interesting reports. . The first re port was in substance as follows: The Conference Committees of the German church and Reformed church in America met in Philadelphia and (spent two days in discussing the ques tion of consolidation of the two churches, and while no ? definite plan of consolidation was arrived at, yet the question was very., far advanced. The report was adopted. ,. The committee -also report that it met with a similar committee of the General Assembly of the Prosbyterian Church South, in New - York, last January, and agreed upon certain plans of co-operation. It was adopted. The report sots forth that in a great work of the Presbyterian Charon South in evangelizing the negroes the Presbyterian Chnrch depends largely for aid upon the Reformed ; Church, and, therefore, the joint committee requested that the Reformed Church cousider with great sympathy this matter, and send its contributions to the treasures of Assembly, which, if done, the .latter would . be duly ac knowledged. , ;. -, It was also reported that the- com mittee were to confer with the com mittee from the Presbyterian Church North, .with the same view ; to coop eration as with the Presbyterian Church South; ' that the committee met in New York in" March; that the two committees did not arrive at any agreement. It ' was - almost1' unani mously resolved to continue the com mittee another year. I Spirits Turpentine. A short sporting season opens next Thursday in Weldon. i Messrs 11. T.- Gray and E. li.
