In accordance with the direc tions of Judge McKoy, the outer railing in the Superior Court room is being placed nearer, the door, making larger that portion of the room reserved for the bar. ' The ,Cornet Concert Club, it will be borne in mind, open their series of concerts ou Sunset Hill to-night. Ample accommodations have been made for com fortably seating a .number of persons by means of benches on the hill. On the Streets. Our. streets on these summer evenings bear the impress of quietness. The tones of tbe bell are beard at7T o'clock and then the worn and weary clerk with a light heart closes the store door, and soon after even the principal thoroughfares of our city are settled down to a quiet and seemingly breathless monotony that lasts throughout the night It would be vain, however, to think because the business portion of the city is quiet that that stillness which it breathes is coexistant witb the city. On many a quiet street may be seen couples enjoying a moonlight stroll, while sweet music floats on the fragrance of the summer air from many a happy household where some fair one plays tbe piano. Such is "Wilmington, and one who desires to vary the monotony of the evening by a moonlight ramble among the institutions of the city may go . here where a number of young men, with coats off, are industriously engaged in band practice by the pale light of several lamps that softly light up the gloominess of the band room; lie may go there where a company of young wen, aUso with coats off, what they term in military parlance, it is said, an undress uniform, are busily engaged in going through the manual of arms or briskly marching to the beating of a drum. He may go here where several youths aie intently reading; sur rounded by books; or if all these may not suit him be can take a pleasant ramble along tbe quiet streets and enjoy tbe cheer ful light that shines from . happy homes, or leisurely saunter upon Sunset Hill and feast his eyes upon a delightful view of the river, "v ' v , ;-. -. -v The Faarih of Jalr. , The celebral ion incident to the 4th of J uly will this year it seems take place on the 5th which falls on Monday. It will probably be more , generally observed than any 4th of July since the war. A regatta of the Carolina Tacht Club will take place on the Sound, which wfll be immediately followed by a tnb race. It is alse expected that tar get shooting by the Wilmington Light In fantry will also take place at the Sound, and the Cornet Concert Club will probably mingle the blow of their horns with the breezes of old ocean on that occasion. At least. some . suggestions to that effect have been made regarding these two organiza tions but tbey have not decided to observe the day in that manner. . .The excursion by the Gov. ' Worth under the auspices of the Macbanists' and Blacksmiths Union, will also as has heretofore been announced take place oa tbe 5th. The 5th therefore on ac count of festivities incident to it will be' a gala day in this section. - - ' , ' V f Carolina Central.
