Editor Senti7ieL- It it my purpose in this communication to give you a brief outline of the Grand Lodge and what it has done up to this time, and in another to devote more time to the. proceedings proper. - We left Raleigh Holiday after noon, the Z7tb, at 4 o'clock, and after a dusty and wearisome ride of five hours, landed in THE ANCIENT BUT FINE CITY of Fayetteville. We were met at Sanford by .a committee of Refuge Lodge, No. 25, in whose care we ar rived safe. At the depot we were met by Good Templars, and, headed by the LaFayette Silver Comet Band, formed in procession and marched to the lodge room and from thence dis persed to homes assigned us among the hospitable citizens. At the lodge room a short speech of welcome was made by brother Benj. liobiuson, of Refuge Lodge, No. 25, which was re sponded to by brother N. B. Brough ton in his usual pleasant style. A night of rest brought Tuesday "morning, and the hoar of opening of the Grand Lodge. At 10.3O o'clock the G. W. C. T., brother N. B. Brough ton, called the Grand Lodge to order. The Committee on Credentials- made a report which is. loo long for this short sketch. The meeting is a large one, embracing REPRESENTATIVE MEN ; from all sections of the State, north, nouth, east and west, eendjng geod and working members. I caa truth fully say that it is thru? far the most harmonious -sessioli of the Grand Lodge, and it is indeed a grand body. We have with us brother J. J. ilick nian, of Kentucky, who presides over the deliberations. . . I cannot say too much of the Irind welcome we have received at the hands of the good, citizens of Fay etteville. They have, indeed, WELCOMED US TO THEIR HOMES, and bid us enjoy the hospitality so willingly bestowed. As, the Grand Lodge has consumed the day's session, , in hearing report of officers aud standing committees, nothing has been done - of special in terest even to the members of the , order- More anon-.
