Strode and Joseph' Whitney, two special magistrates' deputies, convicted during the present term of the Court of assault and battery in the arrest of T. P. Sykcs, some months ago. The judgment against Strode Was imprisonment for two. years, from which he took an appeal to the Supreme Court. '- He was therefore required to enler into bond in the sum of $500 for his p pearance at the next term of the Court and to 'keep the peace, and $50 on the ap peal.
