The Out-Door Poor.
The scene in the vicinity of the Court
House yesterday morning was a distressing
reminder of the fact lhat, although our
city has been blessed with comparative
good health during the past and present
season, yet there is a considerable amount
of want, suffering and destitution in our
midst. It was ration day for the out door
poor, and the room where the orders are
dealt out by the Poor Committee, together
with the passages snd the sidewalk in front
of the Court House, were thronged with the
maimed, the halt, the blind, and sufferers
irom an tne various ins ot which nesh is
heir to; and yet, we sre informed, the
orders for provisions are not likely to be
tilled on account of the difficulty of collect
ing from the county the money due for the
same. Among the number of applicants
for aid yesterday the re appeared to be many

The only "stirring scenes" to speak of on
our streets yesterday consisted of wagons

on moving day, and the community
breathes freer when the last bedstead is in
position, the lust picture: suspended and the
last tack driven into the carpet. We hope
all our friends concerned in the "move
ment" are now satisfied after a night's ex
perience, tnal! 'they have bettered them
selves, being pleasantly located for the
coming year, in a "heap ncer" neighbor
hood than formerly, and that in the coming
lime they may find that their rooms don't
leak, the chimneys don't smoke, the dogs
are not so plentiful and boisterous, &c.
