Fatal Aeeldent. .- The funeral notice of Abner C, sou of our townsman, Mr. W. J. Penton, aged nine years, is published this morning.' The circumstances preceding his death were of a very painful character, and ensure 'the bereaved family of the hearty sympathy of the entire community. This day one week ago, in the flush of health; he was playing in the yard at home with his brother, when he accidentally stumbled, or fell, his face coming in contact " with a very sharp stick or piece of wood. He was carried or ran into the house, the ugly wound was examined and properly attended to, and though very painful there was reason to' hope that the little sufferer would Soon re cover. . Later, however, scientific exami nation showed that the upright stick pene trated not only the flesh of the face below the left eye, but also the muscle-or bone in that region. The best medical skill was not equal to saving the child, and he died yesterday morning. He must have been a great sufferer towards .the , last. How forcibly hut sadly the event stands out as a warning, to both old and young, of the cir cumspection necessary to be used, even in life's most pleasant sports and pastimes. iKnlgbla of Pytblaa. ; The approaching session of the Grand Lodge of this Order promises to be a very interesting one. Barnes; of the Atlanta (Ga.) . Acanthus. We are in. the yellow and sere leaf, but there is enough gallantry and knighthood and cultivation here to make it certain she will not want attention,, while our river, sounds and scenic grandeurs offer all need ful inspiration for the employment fine descriptive powers. of her Rev. Tbos. Gallant! It may be interesting to any deaf mutes, who may. be living In this part of the State, to learn that Rev. Tboa. Gallandet, P.
