About two hundred bunches of fish and six gallons of oysters were con demned and ordered out of the market Tuesday night and yesterday morning. Messrs. Clark . & Currie, of Clarkton, ship thousands of pounds of yel low jessamine root for medicinal purposes, there being considerable demand for it. We are. told that one of our railroads hauled within a very small frao tion of thirteen millions pounds of freight during the short month of February last. The county jail is said to be filling up very slowly, and the prospect for the next Criminal Court ta rather slim. Jailor Howard says be is not making ex penses. The schooner She Kinah, alltt- ded to yesterday as having been delayed on ber passage from Elizabeth City to this port, put io her appearance here yester day morning. We are greatly pleased to learn that there was considerable improvemen in the condition of Mr. J. W. Thompson yesterday, and hopes .of his positive im provement are strengthening. Chief of Police Brock has a large force engaged in cleaning out ditches and drains in the outskirts of the city. A very commendable precaution against un healthiness during the, Summer months.
