The Ltw in Regard to Jarore. ! The new law in regard to jurors, which on the Jury at any time during the two i years preceding, may do very well in the Superior Courts of the State, but it ope rates badly in the Criminal Court of New Hanover county, which meets six times a year. This fact was demonstrated during the term just closed, when, in a capital case that was tried, it was almost impossible to get a jury because of the fact that so many! of the special venire, when asked if they ljad been on the jury in that Court daring the past two years, replied that they had. Ex-Judge Russell gave it as his opinion that it was only intended to apply to the Superior Courts, and it was apparent that te Court and the legal fraternity generally would have been only too glad to have ac cepted that construction of the enactment, While at tbe same time the wording of the law seemed to forbid such a view of its re quirements. The opinion of the law, as ex pressed by the Court and some of the gen tlemen of tbe Bar, was not very flattering to the same nor to those who were instru mental in getting it upon the statute books of the State. . Legislation in such matters has very generally resulted In a disadvan tage to Wilmington' while benefiting, per haps, other portions of tbe Commonwealth, i An Uarnli' Prleoner A Desperate Strnccle. . .
