". TOR BLAINE.
Stalwart Jimmy Blaine de Blaine,
Of me you shall not win renown;
You ought to scoop the Couucil in
By bringing such a crowd to town.
You raved and tore, and stamped and
swore,
Bat I am not what you supposed,
Although a quiet medical man,
I'm not so easily bulldozsd.
Stalwart Jimmy Blaine de Blaine,
I know that you are fierce and strong;
Your strength is yet no match for mine,
Too firm to aid or suffer wrong ;
Nor would I do, for fear of you,
Or leave undone a single act:
Governor of Maine s as good
As both her Senators, in f acf .
Stalwart Jimmy Blaine de Blaine,
If you are wanting work to do,
Go where Louisiana stands
With outstretched arms imploring you.
Go, shiver Grant's pretentious boom,
Push Roscoe Conkling from bis throne,
Or pull John Sherman's nose, but leave
Alonzo Garcelo o al one.

KVGUN1E IN PARIS.
The Uriel Return of the Exiled Bw
preaa to tike Scenes of Her Former
Glory.
Cable dispatch to New York Herald.
Paris, November 21. As soon as
the news arrived here that tbe Coun
tess de Montijo, mother of the ex
Empress Eugenie, was dying at Ma
drid, it wae expected that her daugh
ter would pass hastily through the
city on the way to her mother's bed
side. It was even announced that
she would leave Paris this morning.
Nevertheless the Empress has been
spending the whole day at the resi
dence of the Due de Mouoby, Prince
Alarat's son-in-law, tended most affec
tionately by the Duchess and by
Madame Lerminut. Princess Ma
tbilde called on her at 1 o'clock, but
was not received. Then came Prince
Napoleou, who was more successful
in obtaining an audience. The Em
press talked with him for half an
hoar. She told him she had now put
all thought of politics aside, and had
no care for anything but the memory
of her dead son. When the Prince
returned to his carriage he was pain
fully affected. At 5 o'clock the ex
Queen of Spain asked urgently that
she should be admitted to the Em
press' piesence. She was at once
received. Tbe meeting of these
two royal mothers, one widowed
and childless, the other with her
8on sealed upon a throne and hour
ly waiting for his bride, was very
touching to the few who were privi
leged to see it. Queen Isabella stayed
nearly "half an hour, and at 6 the
Empress dined with the Duchess de
Mouchy, Madame Lerminut, Comto
de Brissac and Vicomte de Turenne.
Her Majesty started for the Orleans
station at 7; her suite followed in
three carriages. They drove rapidly
through the streets, and it was no
ticed that the Empress, seeming to be
wholly absorbed in her thoughts,
never glanced at the familiar spots
where the -hajpy days of her life
were spent. When they reached the
station, at a quarter before 8, their
arrival was expected by nobody, and
not even the station-master knew any-
: u.. ,u t .... I
car had been ordered for unknown
persons. But as soon as they
alighted the news that it was
the Empress ran around the station
and alt the railway employes crowded
to tbe door of the car. They stood
there silently, with hats upraised.
Most of them had seen that face be
fore as it looked out from a carriage
in their midst on the day of the Em
peror's fete. Most of them compared
it8beauty so well remembered with
the wan and haggard look that it
wore now. Indeed the Empress is
cnangea oeyonq tne expression: or
words. Her form is bent and she is
prematurely old. No demonstration
was made by the spectators. At 8
o'clock the train started, and four po
lice agents accompanied the Imperial
party as far as the Spanish frontier.
