It peed hardly be said that this will be one pf. the most constant sources of enjoyment in the Way of recreation to the industrial and .working classes of our community that could bo devised, affording as it will cheap and rapid communication with the sea shore to those who have but little money id spare and little time to devote to such pur- ; poses.. What do our moneyed men say? Shall we have it or not? Those who are personally interested in such an enterprise, should also be willing to help it with their mites. . To to the question as to whether it will pay those who put their money in it, it must, in all candor, be answered that, being an untried project, so far as this community is concerned, nothing but actual experience can determine the matter to a certainty; 'but so far as human probabilities are con cerned, it can reasonably be expected that such V roa'd would be largely patronized, especially by that portiqp. of our commu nity that can seldom, if ever,' find the time to make trips to the ' mountains and else where for recreation; and as there are in all communities more people that have fifty or a hundred cents to spare for amusement, and who are willing and anxious to use it for that purpose, than there are that have as many dollars, the expectation of divi dends to the stockholders would not seem to be an extravagant view of the subject ;A Creditable Action. i Friday afternoon, about 4 o'clock, Wes ley Poe, one of the colored city cart-drivers, was passing the corner of Fourth and Orange streets, when he' discovered a pocket-book and roll of money lying in the street. He picked ibem up ami immedi ately went to the City Hall and delivered money and pocket-book to Chief Brock, detailing the circumstances of the finding. Thejmoney comprised five five-dollar bills and three ones, w a totaWf twenty-eight dollars, besides which the' pocket-book contained a note for $300, several tax re ceipts, etc. The contents led to the dis covery of the owner, to whom they were speedily delivered, thanks to the honesty of Wesley Poe, whose integrity, as dis played in this instance, is a credit to his race. - The owner passed the spot where the money was found a short time previously On horseback, and tbe pocket-book was no doubt; jolted from his pocket. Aorinarv. There was only one interment in Oakdale Cemetery during the week closing yester day, and that was a still-born infant brought here for interment .
