' The Board of Aldermen met in regular monthly session at the. City Hall yesterday afternoon, Mayor Fishblate presiding - The Mayor announced the death, on the 1st Inst, of Alderman H. G. Planner, in a brief speech,'- eulogizing; the deceased, and expressing the sincere sorrow and deep re gret of the Board at the less sustained. On motion of Alderman Myers the Board then adjourned in respect to the memory of the deceased without transacting any fur ther business. Funeral of Dr. Hear? O. Planner. The funeral of Dr. H. G- Flan tier, on Sunday afternoon, was one of the largest in point of numbers that we have ever seen in Wilmington. The ceremonies took place ar St. James Episcopal Church at 4 o'clock, the Rector, Rev. Dr. Watson, offi ciating. Tb s funeral cortege consisted of the mem be i a of St. John's Lodge No. 1, and Wilmington Lodge No. 819, F. & A. M., the Wilmington Light Infantry, accom panied by the veteran corps in regalia, the Cape Fcur Light Artillery, citizens in car riages, i&c, headed by tbe Cornet Concert Club. The following were the pall-Dcarers. chosen by St. John's Lodge, of which he was a member : R. J. Jones, Hon. A. ; M. Waddell, Captain Joseph Price and Past Grand Master H. II. Munson, on the part of St. John's Lodge No. 1, and Gen. M. P. Taylor, W. H. Northrop, George Harris and W. H. Chadbourn, on tbe part of Wilmington Lodge No. 319. The funeral ceremonies at the Cemetery a a were very impressive, oeicg conuuciea principally by the Masonic fraternity, who had charge of the remains. Tbe flag of his company, which deceased bore from the field on his person when his Battery was surrendered to the Federals at Appomattox Court House, was, in accord ance with his expressed wishes, . placed upon his coffin and buried with his body. At the conclusion of the ceremonies at the grave a salute in honor of the dead was fired by the Cape Fear Light Artillery and the Wilmington Light Infantry. The attendance upon the grounds during the ceremonies was very large. mayot's COBrc John Reynolds, a burley seaman of the colored persuasion, was arraigned on the charge of making an assault upon Dick Martin, the colored accordeon player, be tween 10 and 11 o'clock Saturday night Martin testified that the sailor first ran against hiid, then cursed him and threat ened to kill him, and finally struck him two separate blows. Reynolds was or dered to pay a fine of $5 or go below for ten days. David Mallett and Susan Frank were charged with being engaged in an affray on Water street at a late hour Sunday- night. Susan Frank was ordered to pay a fine of $3 or be imprisoned for five days, and David Mallet to be locked up for thir ty days, the latter sentence to be. remitted on condition-that the defendant should leave the city immediately, which be prom ised to do. v Kplseopal convsntlOB. John Merrick, colored, who was con vicled at the late term of the Criminal Court of breaking into tbe building of tbe Cape FeasVTobacco Works, in this city, but in whose esse judgment was suspended in consequence of the fact that other cases were pending against him, was taken from the county jail yesterday afternoon and carried before Justice Gardner, there to answer to the charge of stealing one double barrel shot gun and one knife, the property of Mr. JohnR. Sanders. The evidence being deemed sufficient to convict, the de fendant was remanded to jail, in default ,of a bond of $100, and in accordance with previous commitments, to await his trial a the approaching term of the Criminal Court. This afternoon, at half past 12 o'clock, the same defendant will be arraigned; on the charge of arson, in having set fire to and burned the residence of Mr. John A. Sanders two years ago. Sodden Deatn. A colored man, by the name of Edward Reeise, who lived on the corner of Eleventh and Orange streets, died suddenly on Sat urday night last. He went down the street purchased some fruit, and vegetables for his Sunday's dinner, and returned home, soon after which he was seized with a vio lent vomiting, which quickly terminated in. death. He had been sick, but his health was thought to be improving. "Deceased was about twenty-five or thirty years, of age, and leaves a family. He was a mem ber of Damon and Pythias Lodge, Good Samaritans, and was buried with the ho nors of that order. He said, "We propose to extend all cour tesy possible to your Yacht Club, and in stead; of their liberties being restricted, they will be enlarged. Suitable houses will be erected for tbe convenience of guests, and everything will be done in bang-up style, (loud applause!, and any one will be allowed to land on the beach, ho matter in what way they reach it. All disreputable persons will be strictly prohibited." The Treasurer read a report showing that the finances of tbe Club were in a flourish ing condition. On motion the Club adjourned. L W. At a meeting of the Caps Fear Light Artillery, held at their Armory on the evening of the 3d inst., the following preamble and resolutions were adop ted t - Whereas, Beath has invaded our ranks and strick en down our late Commander, Col.
