Mr. Carr may be working for some of our agents'. We do not wish to injure him if innocent." j The receipts' have every appearance of being genuine, being printed and stamped. Carr said he had been working for True & Co. two years, and had recently worked at Raleigh. Ho is a sickly looking, middle- aged man. Either the proprietors are frauds or their so-caiieu agent is one, ana .fe hope this notice may prevent people efaewhere from being swindled. AtteHaptetKobterr. j An attempt- was made just before day light yesterday morning to break into the store of Mr. John F. Haifa, corner of Nutt and Walnut streets. The door on the Wal nut street side was secured by a pad -lock on the outside, besides the ordinary lock oh the inside. This lock had been broken and an attempt been made to draw the siaple, but before the thieves had accom plished theis purpose they were frightened off by tbe workmen at the ape Fear Flour Skills, who beard the noise and west to the dpor or window to see what it meant, when the party who was at woik at (be door drop ped 'something and ran ff . Subsequent examination proved tbe "something" to be sJ railroad engine hook, made of iron, and used by firemen.
