The Charieston News b Couriers King's Moan tarn correspondent says of JuJe Fowled "lie is & fiuc loukiatr man and a very im- pi c.ive speaker. Ills speech today was a masterly effort and produced a profound impression on the audience. Ou Tuesday nigbt the Indiana Democrats had tho biggest demon stration ever seen in that Slate. It came off at Indianapolis. The pro cosdion was six miles long and there wore fifty uniformed companies in it. The venerable George Bancroft, tho historian, uow passed his 80ih year, it for Hancock, and Hays he will be elected. General Isaac F. Quinby, of New York State, has come out for Hancock. He was one of tho leaders of the Republican posts. Chairman Barnum, Senator Mc Donald and Mr. Landers hold a con- Hultaiion on the 7lh and arrccl that the latterfl majority for Governor would rauge from 7,000 to 10,000. Mr. English is said to have handed over another contribution of $10,000. Tho Indianapolis correspondent of the Baltimore Sun writes ou October 7th, that tho editor of the Greenback organ, the Indianapolis Sun, told him that he thought his party would poll th..irolJ strength. 40.000. The Re publican leaders aay it will not exceed 10,000. Capt. John S. Wise said he had seen a leltor written by Gen. Garfield to a man in Virginia saying be was no a candidate in that State. J-Atnes says he has dooeno snch thing. We will believe Wise. Remember the old legal maxim about false iu one thing, false in all. Grant is to receive a regular Impe rial triamph when he enters New York, i Monday is the big day and it is said that nothing like it in the way of a demonstration has been seen since the reception given to the Prince of Wales many years ago. Windows and balconies have been sealing rapid ly and with an upward tendency. Grant is a humbug. All accounts from Indiana agree in the statement that a very large num- I ber of repeaters are scattered over the State. Every train brings a crowd of dirty, rough-looking fellows. The Philadelphia Prest Republican, has a special correspondent at Indianapo lis who writes on the 7th that Repub lican prospects are brighter. Every fresh carload of ballot-stuff ers cheers their hitherto desponding hearts.
