There was a considerable fall of snow here yesterday morning, but the earth be ing so damp from the heavy and continu ous rain that had preceded it, the fleecy particles disappeared as fast as they touched the ground. There waa not enough left after it was all over to make a respectable snow-ball, much to the disappointment and chagrin of the younp folks, and some of the "old un's." A gentleman who came in on the North - em train says tbe snow was ankle deep in Richmond when he left there Sunday night, and we learn that it was quite heavy at Weldon and other points on tbe W & W. Railroad. Ladiet' Benevolent society. Tbe annual meeting of tbe Ladies' Be nevolent Society will be held at Hook and Ladder Hall to-morrow (Wednesday) morning at 11 o'clock. It is to be hoped that the ladiea generally will make it con venient to be present and connect them selves with the Society. The membership subscription is only $1 a year, but even this small sum will in tbe aggregate be the means of accomplishing much good if the ladies will only come forward as they should, and as we hope they will. The steamship Regulator, which went to sea Saturday morning, probably had to contend with the severe gale of that night, unless she was fortunate enough to get un der the lee of Cape Lookout in time to avoid the full fury of the storm.
