But we have tbis morning tasen tne matter in band, and will have all the neces sary papers drawn, executed and regis tered by to-morrow or the next day. We make this statement in simple justice to our clients, and to clear them from any blame in tbe matter. Very respectfully, Junius Davis, E. 8. Mabtin, Alderman Lowrey stated that so far as bis constituents were concerned, they were very well satisfied with the contract with the Market Company, and were glad that I they had now a permanently located mar ket, and he was satisfied that his vote for the contract was approved by them, and therefore he still held to it. Alderman Myers offered the following, which was adopted : Besolved, That it is the duty of the City Attorney to attend all meetings of the 1 Board of Aldermen, that his official opinion I when rennired mav be first civen to tbe I Board. The "Gav'Dor," the play produced at the Opera House last -night, is entitled a farci cal comedy in three acts, and is a very cleverly written and ingeniously construct ed production, though in parts rather lengthily drawn oat. The piece requires, to be successfully portrayed, a compara tively large number of people, and that an nnnsual number of the parts be taken by really fine actors. The crowd present was quite numerous last eveniog.and would un" doubtedly have been larger but for the I niiilt... mhinh mate, o i nol r weather, which was exceedingly disa greeable. And just here wo would like to call attention to .the fact that even inside the theatre was un pleasantly cold, owing to the negligence of somebody in not having the building com fortably heated. Mr. Ford has a large company, contain ing eome very meritorious actors, and, of course, some not so good, but we think it on the whole quite a strong organization, as witnessed by their satisfactory rendition of "The Guv'nor." Mr. Barton Hill easily and at once won the approval and unstinted applause of the audience as Freddy Butter scotch, and played this rather diffi cult part to perfection. Mr. H. C. Curly also found great favor with the audience, and deservedly, for his very clever impersonation of The Old Boat Builder, whoGo many mistakes, caused by his excessive deafness, were so amusing. Mr. John E. Roberts was excellent as a Yoikshireman, and created much amuse ment, as did too Mr. Fred. Roberts as Mac Toddy, a' Highlander. The ladies of the company were all very acceptable in their parts, Mrs. Rouse being especially entitled to praise. To-night the company appears for the last time in "A Morning Call" and "Fun on the Pacific," both successful and amusing pieces. CITY tTH19. t iron vnonraa otii v i. k. .t t..
