Payne, under a commitment from' Justice R. K. Bryan, charged with the murder of of her own child. It seems that 'Payne found the body in a pond Monday -morning, and reported the circumstance ;to Jus tice Bryan, at his residence at Scott's Hill, when, suspicion pointing to Abbey How ard, she was arrested as the inhuman mo ther who had committed .the foul deed. In other words, that whereas last year it stood Wake, New Hanover, Mecklenburg this year it would stand Wake, Mecklenburg, New Hanover.
