As to tbe propriety , of tbe bill and its provisions tbere was quite aj diversity of opinion. A good maoy were of the opinion that it was tbe best thing ever done for Wilmington. Othert thought it was rather I too sweeping; others that if the anti-tax feature had beep left out L would have I been all right, and otbera still that tbe whole I thing amounted to one of tbe greatest out- rages ever perpetrated. Some of tbe butch ers express the opinion that the effect of the bill will be to seriously injure their busi ness, as any and everyhody will be em barking in it, and one of them declared tbatbe was going to quit and go to farming.
