He fell on tbe floor about one foot from tbe grate and op posite tbe centre of tbe mantelpiece. The ball went through his sleeve, setting it on fire, and then into bis temple. He was shot between 7 snd 8 o'clock and died 8 minutes past 11 o'clock. Tbe three men were arrested and taken to jail. The house was crowded five minutes after he was shot. Every one said that Barry killed him, although the preliminary trial was in his favor. He never uttered a word after he was shot."
