There was. however, no formal vote
taken by the inspectors - of election
as to whether or not Hankins should be al

decided whether or not Hankins should
vote ; that he left rather abruptly and seemed
to be excited, so that no definite conclusion
was arrived at. Washington Howe, one of
the poll-holders, thought Hawkins was en
titled to vote, and theregiatrar.Gasion Hill,
and Wesley Millis, one of the poll-holders,
were of the opinion that he was not entitled
to vote. John G. Dsrden snd James B.
Dudley were busy attending to some other
matters in connection with the election and
1 knew nothing of the matter until Hawkins
had gone, and then Dudley requested Dar-
deo to call him back to be sworn; knd Dsr
