A 'gentleman tried the experiment recently and killed his trees, and has come to the conclusion that the soda which was used in the water was what caused the death of the trees. In alluding to the death of Mr. Harry Simmons, in Saturday's issue, we were unintentionally led into an error in stating that his remains were escorted to the grave by the Order of Rechabites. It will be remembered that a man who gave his name as Williams was arrested here a week or two since, on the suspicion of being one Obadiah Ross, who, it is al leged, was concerned in the brutal and un provoked murder of a respectable merchant by tbe came of Nathaniel Crawall, near Bartow, Georgia, in the winter of 1877, but who, when the sheriff of the county in which the murder occurred came here to identify the prisoner, was found not to be the man, although very closely resembling him It appears now, however, from the Georsia papers, that the real Obadiah Ross bas at last been taken, he having been cap tured at Ninety 8ix- S.
