Woodard, the law partner of Mr.'Hngh F. Murray, has been taking an active part in the campaign in behalf of the Democrat ic party. Mr. Woodard is a gentle man of talents and of sincere ' politi cal convictions. He did all he could in behalf of his friend .and partner for the nomination for the Judgeship but he stands by' his party in this great struggle like a man. He will vote the Democratic ticket. By the way, we are glad to see it stated that our prospects in Wilson are very encouraging," and Mr. Murray will be asked to remain at home. The New York Evening Post, Re publican, declares emphatically that the Republican .managers have caused 20,000 fraudulent registrations to be made in that city. How is that for a sair and free election and an honest count? In Philadelphia the frauds are known to be enormous. Was there ever such a party of sham, and fraud and corruption ! All Democrats who have been appointed Federal Supervisors in any vo ting precinct in New Hanover county are requested to call on G. J. He was here a week or two previous ly. The other statements in our article are exactly correct. The exact time when Mr. Sutton was here is a matter -of no impor tance, but we like to "be strictly correct. If we would be successful, work, hard work must be done'on election day. Let not this wo; k fall on a few faith ful ones, but let it be remembered that the great Democratic party of the country ex pects every individual member thereof to do his whole duty. Let not the great Dem ocratic wave which is sweeping the entire country be broken in the good Old North State. A grocery clerk, who in his bus iness combines the sale of ' provisions with the 8ale.of sparkling wines, was drawing forth a glass when the faucet outward flew, the wine poured down his 'sleeve and he quite frantic grew, but a porter, being sum moned to his rescue went, and found the desperate man with his thumb upon the .vent. A rich treat is in store for our Fifth .Ward friends in the speech tOrmorrow night, at the corner of Seventh and Castle streets, from Gen. E. W: Moise, of our sister State of South Carolina. Those who heard him on a former Visit will certainly be out to hear him again, and every Democrat who has not heard him should avail himself of this opportunity to do so. He is an able and forcible speaker. Mr. Jno. C. Davis, a promising young lawyer of this city, and one who needs no introduction to "Fifth Warders, will also address them. " Cotton Fact." We' have received from the publisher, Mr. A. B. Sheppersori, 25 Beaver street, New York, a copy of Cotton Facts just is sued from the press, which is a valuable book for factors, buyers, spinners and plan ters, and probably gives more information about the cotton crops of the United States, India and Egypt, add their movement, and the mill statistics of the world, than any book published. It is a valuable work for reference, and will doubtless have a large circulation among those interested in cotton statistics. Finn Ward Club. The Democratic Club of the Fifth Ward met at the Stedman Truck' House last night. There was a very good attendance, and the best feeling prevailed. Several short speeches were nade and the final ar rangements for "election day perfected. The Democrats of the old Fifth are now fully aroused, and they promise to poll their full strength next Tuesday. The Liberal element of that Ward has dimin ished down to very small proportions and will add but little to the Republican strength. Unmallable Matter.
