Mr. Alexander -said the finance committee, which had reported unfa vorably, had considered the bill care fully, and thought it unconstitutional, but in order that the matter might be fully investigated,' be moved to refer it to the judiciary committee. The motion prevailed. ' i Bill to amend section 19, chapter '37, Rattle's Revisal, in regard to ali mony in divorce cases, -after being discussed at length by Messrs. Payne; Scott, of Rockingham, Pemberton, Dortch, Watson and others, passed, and was ordered engrossed. Bill to repeal the law prohibiting the carrying of concealed weapons was put upon its third reading. On motion of. Mr Hill "the Dill was tabled. Bill to amend chapter 20 of Bat tle's Revisal, relating to agricultural liens, was taken .fram the calendar, and after adopting the substitute sug gested by the judiciary committee, passed its second and third and was ordered engrossed readings Bill to make false Listing of prop erty a misdemeanor failed to pass on its second reading. The move ment of the crop, as indicated by ., our telegrams from the South to night, is given below;.rr For the week endings this evening' (January 19), the total receipts", have reached 150,390 bales, against .1,75,382 bales lasi, weeK, 4z,y7 Dales tne pre vious week, and; 25 1,923 bales three weeks since; making the total re ceipts since the 1st of September, 1882,4,91 2,2 3 ibales,against 3,600,490 bales for the same period of 1881, fShowing an increase since September 1, 1882, of 411,831 bales. The exports for the week ending this evening roach a total of 135,176 bales, of which 100136 were to Great Britain, 13,522 to France, and 21,518 to the rest of the Continent, while the stocks as made up this evening are now 922,213 bales. : Cotton on the spot has been quiet and unchanged. 'The transactions have been mainly for home consump tion, with a little done for export and speculation. Stocks here are some what increased, but are still much be low, those on hand last January. To day there was a decline of 1-1 6c, middling uplands closing at 10c. The total sales for forward delivery for the week are 351,400 bales. SOCIETY ITEMS.
