A Strange Death In Sampson A terrible affair occurred in Sampson county on Monday last. Mr. John Matthews, a very worthy citizen, residing about fifteen miles from Clinton, was returning home from tho latter place, when, it is supposed that his horse rah away and caused his death. Parties passing along the road about four or five miles from Clinton, on Monday night, discovered the unfortunate man lying across the front axle, with his bead caught in one of the wheels of his buggy and his neck broken ; and it is taken for granted that he fell from the vehicle. Deceased was a man of many fine qualities and was muoh esteemed by all who knew j him. He leaves a famiry," who have the profound sympathy of a large "circle -of friends in their sad bereavement.
