On his way he met a female employe of the bouse, who, her teeth chattering with forrnp infAimftrl Viim that Mr . ' . .v a 4 i ' who roomed on the third floor, had killed a man. This intelligence naturally quicken- 1 our friend's steps, and he soon mounted the stairs, where be discovered his fellow boarder, who, trembling with excitement, stated that the blinds in his room were sud denly .opened , and as he raised himself m bed to aa what it meant, he plainly saw the arm of a man at the open window, where- upon, beinir certain that it was some one on burglary intent, he seized his ready re volver and discharged one of the barrels in the direction of the supposed intruder. The fact that there is a shed immediately under tho window in question, with the roof of the kitchen just below it, and a shelf in an upper piazza, from which any one could step to the roof of the kitchen and thence to the shed, made it seem proba- ble that a burglary might really have been attempted; but, after a thorough investiga- tion, no bleeding corpse could be found and no sign that would indicate the presence of a burglar, and it was finally resolved and unanimously agreed that all the trouble and I . ..I excitement must have been innocently caused by some wandering Thomas cat on his nigntly rounds. Robert, a ten-year old boy,, son of George Batson, colored, was severely bitten yester day afternoon by three fierce bull does; at the butcher pen on the San Souci place, near this city. The boy was alone when the dogs attacked him and was seriously injured; both arms and both legs being torn and mangled in a dreadful manner, and his right ear torn nearly off. The cries of the lad brought Silas Hill, a col ored man, to the rescue, who beat the brutes off. The injured boy was taken to his home, corner of Eighth and Campbell streets. Tho dogs belonged to Wright Johnson, colored.
