Criminal Cssrt Report of the Grand Jury. The following is the report of the Grand I Jury, made to His Honor, Judge O. P. Meares, at the late term of the Criminal Court, which closed Its labors on Saturday last: The Grand Jury made a visit of inspec tion to the County Jail and found it secure, and tbe general condition fair. Some of the rooms, though neat in appearance, are offensive to the smell, and tne cause ol this, no doubt, I a want of proper ventila tion of .the mattrasses; as they now are, mey are not ui to oe useu, ana we woum aujnrest to the Court that new mattrasses be obtained, or else the ticking should be washed and refilled with new materia, and from time to time said mattrasses should be put outside of the jail in the open air, so as to get necessary ventilation. liepaire are needed to paten up oroaen places in - the walla. This is essential to protect the rooms from vermin. The walls of one room particularly, show evidences of large quantios of vermin. On Inquiry at the lail it was found lhat tho prisoners are fed only once a day. It ia suggested that this matter bo looked into and some better arrangements be made for their comfort.
