Southerland's CapL livery stables, on Second, between Princess snd Chesnut streets, yesterday afternoon, about half past 2 o'clock, and was in the act of looking around or some tools, when be stepped backwards into the large open ing or hatchway, being on the upper floor at the time, and was precipitated to the lower floor, a distance of about eleven feet, eutting an ugly gash on one side of the head and bruising one sjde of his body sadly. Ilis Injuries are very painful, but are not supposed to be serious. A Large Steamer. Mr. J. L. Morch, whose arrival home from Europe is mentioned elsewhere, came to New York on the new steamer Oregon,. of the Guion line, this being her first trip. She Is a large vessel, and some idea of her size can be formed when wc state that she is 520 feet in length over all, 64 feet in .breadth pf beam, and 40 feet snd 9 inches in depth of hold, her engines being of 13,000 horse power and her registered ton nage 7,500.
