Ilazen, the successor to "Old Probabilities," says the red and golden annaets which we have been admiring so for the laat ten or twelve days, and which kitve. called forth so many sentimental para graph from newspaper writers, are indica tion of stormy weather. It is a noticeable fact tbat the foreign arrivals here this season embrace many vessels of larger tonnage than for merly visited here. "Alvin Joslin" had a good house last night, and the audience was much pleased with the performance. Mr. Davis, id his impersonation of the New England farmer, won much hearty applause. The orchestra which Mr. Davis has with him to a good one and deserves praise. Mr. Harry Hardy, the cornet soloist, entertain ed the audience with some delightful music and was encored time and again. The xylophone soloist, Mr. Charles P. Lowe, is also worthy of mention. Mr. Charles L. Davis to to be commended for the good taste he has displayed in selecting his mu sicians, who add much to his entertain ment. The display of diamonds in the last act was remarkably striking, and their value is "timatd st about one hundred thousand dollars. Siamsat Inspectors. Messrs. Klrkwood and Hewes, steamboat inspectors for this district, are here on an official visit We are sorry to learn that our old friend, Mr. Kirk wood, now in the 84th year of his age. has been superceded in the position he has so long and so worthi ly held, the government having conceived the notion that he was getting too old to properly discharge its duties. It is true he has passed his three score years and ten, but he Is still very active for his age. His successor, who is a Charleston man. has not yet qualified. We learn that the colored people of Lau- rinburg were holding a fair or festival, on Wednesday night last, when the building in which they were congregated suddenly fell In upon them, injuring eight persons, two of them it is feared seriously. The floor fell in first and the walls followed, the large number of spectators being buried in the ruins.
