Necessary to elect 201 electoral votes: Now we take it, that Indiana, New York and New Jersey are cer tain for Cleveland. That Connecti-? cut; Nevada, Calfornia and Colorado will probably gd for him, and that Cleveland has a' showing in Ohio, New Hampshire, Oregon and Wis consin. -'-I ..' -. The result in Ohio was in accord ance with the judgment of careful and conservative Democrats in Ohio, in North Carolina and elsewhere The majority was foretold. There will be a very rattling fight in Ohio from now until the 4th of November and if it goes .for Blaine it will be af ter a desperate struggle. We doubt if Blaine himself feels secure in that State. Mr. John R. McLean tele- raphs the World: "The October vote is not a test for No vember. There were 2.500 illegal deputy marshals in this city last Tuesday, who made the election a mockery. Decent Re publicans, as well as Democrats, are indig nant. : The marshals will not be here in November and a great many Independent Republicans who voted for Robinson will vote for Cleveland. . The writer on account of sickness was unable to hear and enjoy the speech of Col. Bennett. We have talked with many and there is but one opinion of its excellence. It is represented to us by intelligent men to have been extraordinarily fine. It was unlike all other speeches, and was fresh, compact, penetrating and in admirable taste. All agree that it was of a high order, and one friend tells ns that it was about the very best speech he ever heard. Col. Bennett acquitted himself in a man ner that won the approbation -of all I and the enthusiasm of hundreds. It will be a regret with us always that we were unable to hear it. " There is. not the slightest doubt that thousands of Germans who voted in Ohio with the Republicans will vote for Cleveland. A. C. Hesing, editor of the Staats Zeitxmg of Chi cago, says: "There were various causes wnicn in ducedthe Germans of Cincinnati to vote ; the Republican ticket. The most serious cause, however, has been the lukewarm- ness of the Cincinnati amquxrer, ana some fmrpflnondenee published in it. in which . r ; : A . Amidon, a life-long Republican and New Hampshire State Senator, and a leading woolen manufacturer of. New England, will not. support ' Blaine because of his bad - public record . A dispatch to the Times, dated 16th, says: "Mr. Amidon's determination will have great weight in : this State, where he nas hn ih the front rank of the Republican party. There are a large number of bolting Rpnuhlirans in Cheshire county, and the Democrats are sanguine that the State will be carried for Cleveland ana iienancRB. NSW ADVERTISEMENTS. Lost A lap robe. No services to-night. There were a, large number of country people in the city yesterday, the most of them drawn hitherv by the circus. It is universally conceded (by those who attended) that "Old John Rob- circus is the best that has ever visited Wilmington. Many of our citizens are talk ing of taking advantage of thejow rate of travel andgvisiting the Exposition. They should do so by all' means, The Register of Deeds issued five marriage licenses dur: ng the week closing yesterday, of which three were for white and two for colored couples. There were two or three "scrim mages" down in the neighborhood of the wharf yesterday afternoon, and we heard of one knock-down, but no serious damage was done. The circus street parade yester day was about an average one. The brass bands were good, but no music came from the calliope and steam pianol The female brass band was a novel feature. The flags of the shipping in port were at half-mast yesterday as a token of respect to the memory of the late Capt. J. F. Gilbert, whose funeral took place yesterday afternoon, Rev. T. M. Ambler officiating. The Young Ladies: Parsonage Aid Society of the Fifth Street' M. E. Church will give an entertainment at Fifth Street parsonage on Thursday night, Oct. 23rd. Oysters, coffee, ice j cream, cake, etc., will be on the bill of fare. The interments in the various cemeteries of the city during the past week were as follows: Oakdale, 1 adult and 2 children; Bellevue, 1 adult and 1 child; St. Thomas Catholic, 1 adult Pine Forest, col., 7 adults and 3 children! Totol 16. John Robinson's C&reas. John Robinson's circus was here yester day, and all ages, classes and sizes turned out to see this world renown A show. The parade was a fine display' but this was only a beginning of what we were to see. The menagerie was excellent and the curi osities in it were rare and numerous, while the performance was superior to any that we have witnessea. ine trapeze acung, the bareback riding, &c. were all so good that it is impossible to make any distinc tion; and we can truthfully, say that in every particular what was advertised was done and done well. Another source of amusement to those present was the inimitable clown John Lowlow, who kept the audience continu ally laughing. .We advise all who enjoy a first class circus to go and see Old John Robinson's, and they will not be disap pointed. 1' Adventlsts. Rev. J. P. Kipg informs us that himself and brother visited and preached for three days to a large congregation at Milton, near Mount Olive, Wayne county, and that the visit resulted in 105 persons professing the faith, who were constituted into a church (of the Baptist Adventist, as they are called), who appointed officers, and ex pect soon to build a house of worship, the first of that faith in Wayne county. Mr. King, is in the city and requests us to say that he will occupy his pulpit to-day, and that his subject to-zightj will be "The Prophecies Relating to the Mohammedan War Now Waged by El Mahdi, showing its Proximity to the Resurrection and Day of Judgment."
