The situafidn in this State is as good to speculate on as any. Spnngfield Republican. , Henry Ward Beecher appeared last evening in the Brooklyn Academy of Music before a large audience, composed mainly of some of the most intelligent men of Columbia Heights, to talk against the possibility of a tide of Blaine corruption. iV. Y. Herald 2m. ' Nashville, Tenn.i Oct. 25 The transfer here of five cases of guns, purporting to come from the National Re publican Executive Committee at Wash ington, and consigned to the 8tate Republi can Executive Committee at New Orleans, gave rise to the startling report that they had been sent with a view to the intimida tion of Democratic voters at the November election. N. T. Herald. Evansville, Ind., Oet. 25. Governor Thomas A. Hendricks and Mr. Isaac P. Gray, candidate f6r Governor of this State, received an ovation here' to day that, to use Governor Hendricks' own ex pression, "eclipsed everything he j ever saw." The Democrats made up their minds some time ago that the Republican ovation to Blaine which occurred last Wednesday night should be surpassed, and it was.--iV". r. Herald. . - New JTork, Oct. 24. The in dications all point to the fact that the Re publicans are'giving up hope of carrying this State, and are placing all their hopes on Indiana, New Jersey and Connecticut. This grows plainer day by day. This grows plainer day by day. This is no doubt largely due to the Independent vote, about which much has been said in previous dis patches. Special dispatch to Philadelphia Times. - ' Rochester, N. Y., Oct. 25. A list of business men who are for Cleve land was published in the - Union here to day. It includes every bank president and cashier, except one of each, the principal clothing manufacturers, the largest whole sale and retail dry goods firms, the most ex tensive wholesale grocery and notions firms, and Hiram Sibley, the great J seed raiser and merchant. Every brewer's name is included in it, as are nearly all the lead ing nursery men -and mill owners. N. T. Herald. I - Chicago, Oct. 24. A special to the Daily News from Springfield, 111. j says: "James G. Blaine's strength is failing fast. His trip'here to-day was . made against his earnest protest and in spite of his plea for rest It was announced that theftrain would leave at 9.30. At that hour the Illi noisans called for Blaine, but he. pleaded for time, and even asked to abandon the trip to Springfield. He pleaded ill-health, and his pallid face and soft, pulpy flesh in dicated that he was anything but a well man. Special io the World. The Herald has received the following significant dispatches, j They show that the people are aroused and de termined, if possible, to have a "change." Indiana Democrats are enthusiastic and sanguine of success. Michigan will be carried by the f usionists, which means at least? seven electoral , votes for Cleveland. Illinois may even be swept by the coming tidal wave into the Cleveland camp. Little Oregon, too, is inclined to throw off the Republican shackles. And our neighbor ing State of Jersey has caught the spirit of the hour, and, as the chairman of the Dem ocratic State Committee affirms in ;an in teresting interview published below, will cast her electoral vote for the national ticket beaded by Cleveland and Hendricks. N. T. Herald 2m. Buffalo, N. Y., October 25.--The "People's psrty" in this city is in a bad way. To-night, at the Congressiona Con vention, it was proposed to nominate John Franey, editor of Justice, for Congress. Mr. Franey at once proposed that the Conven tion indorse John M. Farquhar, the Repub lican nominee.. This was the first intima tion of trouble. A fight ensued, during which it came out that Franey had! with drawn from Justice and had, it was alleged, sold out to the Republicans. Thos. Gawley, who is the leader of the "People's paty"in Erie, county, was next investigated, when it waa found that he had gone over to Cleve land and had given up the Music Hall which was to have been occupied by Ben Butler on Monday night for a Cleveland meeting, at which the Hon. Daniel N. Lock wood and David Healey are to speak. Lawrence J. Maher, a member of the First Ward Cleveland Club, has been acting as manager at the headquarters of the "Peo ple's party." It was not known until the night before last that he was a Cleveland man, and to-day "he was cut off by orders from New York. Special Dispatch to the New York Herald. j New Haven, Oct. 22.The Irish-American Blaine meeting to night turned out to be the most enthusiastic Cleveland demonstration held here during the campaign. Carll's Opera House, the largest hall in town, had been engaged by the Republican -Committee and the Repub lican clubs paraded till an audience of Irish men gathered that cfowded the hall to its utmost capacity. Fully - 8,000 men J were within its walls. Alexander Sullivan had been advertised to speak as an Irishman to Irishmen. He spoke in a general manner in eulogy of Ireland and the Irish in Amer ica, and was frequently cheered as he went on to praise the patiotic conduct of (Irish men in the late war. Apparently feeling secure of his ground he suddenly branched off and began to attack Cleveland. The audience growled. With one accord they stood up on the chairs and yelled. Cheers for Cleveland were called for and given time and again. "Three cheers for Cleve: land and the party of our nation!" yelled an old gray-haired Irishman, as he stood upon the railing of the parquet circle and waved his hat. They were given. "Hiss the ren egade," shouted a boy, and the hisses swelled till Mr. Sullivan was appalled. to If. Y. Wona. I most earnestly entreat every female expect ing to be confined to use Mother's Relief. Cou pled wi h this entreaty I will add that during a ong obstetrical practice (forty-four years) I have never known it to fail to produce a quick and safe delivery. H. J. HOLMES, M. D. A lady from one of the counties of Middle Georgia, who has been acting midwife for many years, writes: 'T have disposed of all the Mo ther's Friend yon sent me, and 1 am delighted with it. In every Instance where it has been used Its effects have been all that I could ask. I oonslder it a great blessing." !A gentleman writes: "My wife used your Mo ther's Friend at her fourth confinement, and her testimony is that she passed through it with one half the suffering of either of her former confine ments, and recovered from its effects in much less time. She also recommended it to a lady friend who was about to be confined for the first time, and she says: 'I have never seen any one pass through this great trial with so much ease and so little suffering.' "g A QUICK AND EAST TIMS. A distinguished physician of Mississippi writes: Every one expecting to be -confined should use the Mother's Friend, for during a long obstetric practice I have never known it to fall to produce a quick and safe delivery. This remedy is one about which we cannot publish certificates, but it is a most wonderful liniment to be used after the first two or three months.
