A number 'of special police were sworn in at the City Hall yesterday, the oath being administered by Capt. John Cowan, J. P. We have been requested to suggest to the poll holders in all the wards to count the Presidential 'vote first at the close of the Dolls on Tuesdav. Four Russian Fins, with un pronounceable names, were committed to jail by a magistrate yesterday on the charge of desertion from a vessel in port. To-morrow night is the time for the regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen, but there will probably be an adjournment or recess until after the elec tion. There will be services as fol lows in Brooklyn Hall to-day: Sunday School at 3.30 p. m. ; preaching at 7.30 p. m. The public are cordially invited to at tend. If you feel any interest - in the welfare of your country, and have not al ready registered, go and do so to morrow. If you fail you may never cease to re gret it. A number of men and women were going about the streets yesterday singing and playing musical instruments, the most of them being afflicted in one way or another. The "Moonlights," Capt. II. We are informed on good authority that many colored men who reside in this city have registered here, and also in precincts near this city, and in Brunswick and Pen der counties, for the purpose of voting in several places, and that colored men who reside in country precincts have also regis tered in this city. Let them be closely watched, spotted and marked, and mounted couriers carry the news from polling place to polling-place; and if they vote more than once, or vote illegally, take out warrants against them immediately. Do not wait for the courts and to go before the grand jury, for when wanted then they may have fled the country. We wish a fair vote and an honest count, and illegal voting must be prevented. . Report Contradicted.
