By way of showing the true nature of the dangerous, disturbing and maIiciou8demagogtie who has just been defeated for President it is only necessary to quote from candi date Blame's letter of acceptance touching, the South and contrast the same with the venomous SDeech of the defeated politician delivered at Augusta; Me., last Tuesday night : From Letter of Ae- From Augusta (Me.) cevtanceA ipeeefi. The eleven States The elements which separated the m comprised the rebel North and South- Confederacy had by the census of 1880 are fast disappearing:. Can any one doubt that desire to support the republican party, but by a system of cruel between the sections commence ana ; es intimidation and by teem are to day more marked than at any violence and murder, whenever " violence period in the sixty and murder are years preceding the election of President Lincoln? If there be occasional thought necessary. they are absolutely deprived of all politi cal power. If the and violent outbreaks' in the South against outrage stopped there it would be bad mis peaceiui pro enough, but it does gress, the public not stop there, for not. only is the ne gro population dis franchised, but the power which right fully and constitu tionally belongs to them is transferred to opinion of the coun try regards them as exceptional, and hopefully trusts that each will prove the last the white population. enabling the white population of toe South to exert : an electoral influence far beyond that exerted by the same number of white - people in ithe North. . The explanation to this is that when Mr. Blaine wrote his Letter of Acceptance, he hoped and expected to carry at least five Southern States. When he made his - Augusta speech he was the disappointed and defeated candidate who had failed to carry a single Southern " State, and who had been rejected by four of the North ern States. The instincts of the base, rabble-rousing politician are clearly revealeM in the extracts quoted. OCR STATE CONTEMPORABIES. If a people would have their country prosperous, they must mainly make it so themselves. They must bestir themselves and see the necessity of prompt and steady action. Self reliance is one of the chief characteristics of manhood, and a spirit of dependence always keeps hot only indi viduals but communities in the background. It is too much the disposition to sit with folded hands, expecting a favorable turn in oar behalf and the road to prosperity to be cleared of all obstacles. The consequence ia no headway is made, valuable time is wasted and golden, opportunities are not Improved. Chadboum Times. The negroes are frightened at the Demo cratic victory. This is the result of the Re publican training in politics. They . have been' taught to believe that they woald be again enslaved if the Democrats came into power, and the more ignorant among them believed the tales that were whispered in their ears. Poor simple souls! The Dem ocrats are their best friends, and would do -nothing to damage them if they could, and they could not - if they , would. They are free forever, and must work out their des tiny as freemen. fflizabeth City Economist. POLITICAL POINTS. J bilt did not contribute to Cleveland's cam paign. .Yes, he did. Bradfleld on the street, and related the following, In which all ladies are deeply interested : -; , , ; "For the past eighteen months my wife has been an invalid, caused from womb trouble, ces sation of menses, etc, and I have tried every th'ng I could hear of in the way of medicine, and have had several of our best physicians attend ing her, to one of whom, (calling him by name) I paid one hundred and sixty-three dollars. Instead of improving or getting any relief, she gradually grew worse, and I had almost given up hope, and really did not believe she would ever get up from an invalid's bed; but a friend of mine who krew of the case suggested the use of , . .... ' Bradfield's Female Regulator, and although he stated that he knew of a similar case being cured by-.it, and endorsed it highly himself, I was so discouraged I did not believe ft would do her any good; but as a last resort I bought a large bottle of it and she began taking it, and from the very first a marked change took place. She begun to Improve rapidly, her appe tite returned, her whole system was built up.and to-day she is as well and sound as ever in her life, and I am under life-long obligations to you and your remedy, for it undoubtedly saved her life;" and he added.
