Chattanooga, Texn., Dec. 9, Great excitement existed yesterday in Western North Carolina over the discovery of a new gold mine near Marion, McDowell county. Scores of miners are flocking there from all sections, and some valuable pockets ' are said to have been, discovered. Wonderful gems rubies, amethysts, gar nets have recently been picked up in that county.' Flanagan, of Texas, has been nominated to an Internal Revenue Collec torship in Texas.'
