The grand jury of the late Criminal Court having visited the County Poor House and House of Correction, says "there was noth ing found with which to find fault. The grounds are clean and well kept and the keeper deserves praise for his trustworthy care. The inmates had no complaints to make and everything seemed to be in good ordtr and well regulated." The grand jury aUo visited the county jail and made a favorable report as to its condition, etc. Convicts of the Criminal Court. Sheriff Manning left for Raleigh yester day morning with the prisoners sentenced to the Penitentiary at the late term of the Criminal Court, of which there was only one George Rogers, a colored boy, con- j victed of horse stealing and sentenced to six years. Tom Whitfield, colored, sen tenced to seven years for larceny, has ap- peaied to the Supreme Court. Jotdan Lem- mon, colored, convicted of larceny, also appealed. Personal. We are glad to learn that Mr. B. G. Worth has almost recovered from the sick- neas which has kept him confined for the last seven weeks, and will probably be able to be out in a few days. Mrs. M. A.
