' A very 'affecting scene occurred ; in this city yesterday. Two colored women, who are sisters, , one of them residing here and the other at or near Meares' Bluff, had not seen their mother for the last 85 years, and had almost concluded that she was dead ; but "during the last session of the North Carolina annual Conference in this city, one Of the sisters met on the street one of the ministers whs was well acquainted with the, . old owners of her mother who had been carried to Alabama, and upon making . inquiries about her mother, as to . whether she was dead or not, the minister promised to try, , by correspondence, so ascertain, for her. This resulted in a correspondence and exchangejof pictures, and' yestei day morning the sister residing in this city re ceived a -postal stating i that her mother was'on her way to" Wilmington, and would arrive here bo Friday or Saturday. Her joy was great when, a few moment i later, she was called by a friend, who was to jook out for the arrival of her mother at the train, and informed of her presence. ' She dropped everything and ran to embrace her mother, when the manifestation oi?her love. by her kisses, embraces and exclamations were very affecting. Sodden Death. Yesterday morning a German tailor, by the name of A. Pannach, was found dead in bed at the New Scarborough House. The coroner was notified and viewed the remains. A military pass book .and the picture of a lady, said to be that of the dead man's sister, were found on his per son. He came from Stettin, Germany, and bad probably not been in this county long... as he could speak but little English. He had been in this city since the 6th of June, and during a part of that time had been in the employ of Mr. A. David. He never appeared to be in very good health. From the pass book it was ascertained that he was born February 27th, 1841. Dr. F. W. Potter, who examined the body, says the unfortunate 'man's death was caused by congestive fever. No", inquest was held, but Coroner Jacobs superintended the buri al of the body, which was interred in Oak Grove' Cemetery, yesterday afternoon, at the expense of the county.
