There seems to be an impression abroad in certain quarters and among certain per sons that there is a good deal of huried treasure somewhere in this immediate vicinity. How such an idea can have been obtained we are at a loss to conjecture, but that it prevails,' and that to a considerable extent, is a fact of which there can be no sort of question. Many will rec ollect that some ten or twelve years ago there prevailed quite a mania for money digging, and at intervals since we have heard of expeditions of this character, but it has never ye come to our knowledge that anybody has been made richer through the instrumentality of these nocturnal visits. Yesterday we were informed that the treasure seekers had been at work on the premises of Mr. John S. Harrisa, at the John A Sanders place, about four miles from the city. Upon going out on his grounds early in the morning he discovered that several large holes had been dug du ring the night; one of them in the lane leading to the house being about nine and a half feet deep. Around these holes were the tracks of a number of persons and three or four carts and mules. In the course of his investigations he learned that the searchers after "filthy lucre" spent, the whole night in digging, but he haa been unable to ascertain' the extent of theirvsuc- cess, or obtain any clue to the identity of those engaged in the enterprise.
