government is: not national, but federal a

report of dredging operations in the river
below. Wilmington, mentions the removal
of 261 stumps of trees from Liiliput, Logs
and Big bland Shoals. They were unex-

stomps which had been expected from for
mer reports. ' Some four or five were found
which proved so difficult of removal that
dynamite. was placed on them and they
were blown to pieces .. Mr, Bacon says it
is not easy to form' an unassailable opinion.
