One of tbe burning questions on
tbe female aide of the Administra
tion at Waabiogtoo ia, who ia goiog
to be Mrs. Harrison's right hand lady
ia running tbe Presidential court. She
baa no fondoeaa for that kind of basi
news, and don't like Mra. Blaine well
enoagh to tarn it over to her. As
Coporal Tanner ia apparently running
tbe masculine side of the Adminis
tration why couldn't Mra. Tanner
come to the relief and engineer the
feminine side of it ?
Herr Most has a bright idea: that
the anarchists sue tbe city of Chi
cago for $100,000 for each of tbe
fire anarchists banged. He proposes
to gire one third of the $600,000,
when recovered, to tbe widows of the
men hanged aad use the balanoe for
propagating anarchist ideaa and
buying beer. If Herr Moet could
strike a mine like this be might de
cide to put on another clean shirt.

Hoi Knrsisrs
A daring attempt at robbery was
made shortly after twelve o'clock last
Thursday night at the fruit store of
Mr. Anthony Fantafflno, on South
Front street near the market house.
Fantafflno sleep in a small apart
ment back of the store, adjoining a
place used as a cook-room or kitchen,
to which there is an entrance by a
door opening on the alley. The
thieves entered through this door
which .was fastened only by a hook
and staple.
Fantafflno was awakened, he says,
by a saffocating sensation and saw a
negro's hand and arm extended over
him through a small window at the
head of his bed opening into the
cook-room. Fantafflno thinks the
fellow was trying to chloroform
him. He sprang from bis bed and ran
through the store into Front street,
where he saw two negro men stand
ing as if on watch. Running
around to the side entrance he en
countered two men who were hur
riedly leaving his place. Ha seized
one of them, and thinks that he
would have captured him but the fel
low's companion came to the rescue
and knocked Fantafflno down, and
tbey escaped. Fantafflno had a good
view of the man he was struggling
with and yesterday morning identi
fied a colored man named Marcellus
Ratliff, employed in Lucas1 bottling
works, on Dock street, as one of them.
Ratliff was arrested and lodged in
jail, and will have a hearing before
the Mayor th is morning.
