T. W. Caskey, of Texas, who was intimately acquainted with Jefferson Davis for half a century, says that Mr. Davis was never known to enter a saloon, nor permit the mildest ex pression of profanity to escape his lips, and that be was the most con sistent Christian that he ever knew. He carries his admiration for him so far as to compare him to Jesus Christ and declare him the "greatest man that has lived since the days of Jesus Christ."
