The Senatorial situation in the Ohio
Legislature js quite com plicated, and
it is difficult to determine what will
be the result. Part of the new
iron bridge at Holyoke, Massac-hu
setts, was blown down yesterday, and
one of the workmen killed; several
narrow escapes were made. The
estate university uuuuing at unne-
apolis, Miun., was slightly damaged
by tire vesterday morning; at one
liiue ic was thought the entire build-
iug would be consumed. Great
excirement prevails io the Glasgow
iron market; the price of Scotch war

burglars Thursday night; several
hoars elapsed before they recovered
consciousness. New York reports
a large increase in the number of
deaths, which is attributed to the

that malady. Willis Gaylord,

T. W. Caskey, of Texas, who was
intimately acquainted with Jefferson
Davis for half a century, says that
Mr. Davis was never known to enter
a saloon, nor permit the mildest ex
pression of profanity to escape his
lips, and that be was the most con
sistent Christian that he ever knew.
He carries his admiration for him so
far as to compare him to Jesus
Christ and declare him the "greatest
man that has lived since the days of
Jesus Christ." He 1 eaves no room
to doubt that he idolized the dead
chieftain.
AmoDg the first articles that Col.
Cameron, of the Asheville Citizen,
wrote after he got back into harness
was one on the grip. We don'c want
the grip to get him, but hope that he
and the Citizen will get the grip on
Asheville, a fraternal grip so to
speak a grip that will grow tighter
and stronger with eaoh coming year.
Honduras is oomicg to the front
as the paradise of boodlers. It has
a nice, genial climate. The boodle
gentlemen who are too frail to stand
the rigors of the Connecticut winters
can turn to Honduras and winter it
there in tropical delights; in the con
genial companionship of premier
Burke.
In China they say a man can bor
row money on his boys, but girls
ain't worth a continental as oollate

wind on a baker's dozen of boys,
but with a nice dear girl there are
always lots of fellows willing to
make advances.
The publication of the Asheville
Citizen was resumed on the 1st mst.,
with Col. Cameron as editor-iu-chief.
We are glad of this, and Asheville
has cause to be glad of it too, for the
Citizen was doing muoh for that
town and section.

Correot principles io all business
trtosaotioos cn be sod must be co
forced. We are expected and re
quired to settle all of oor bills when'
they mature. Io order to rurei ibem
it sttDds to ressoo that those in
debted to as most yy tbtirs. It is
unbosioeM like and sgaiost all the
roles oar oonoero to permit bills
to ruD on mooib after mooib. We
therefore ask all indebted to as to
make prompt and immediate settle
ment. It is almost impossible in our
business to soooeed unUss we do a
strictly cash business. We are of
course compelled to adopt tbe same
method in selling as in buying. We
do hold, however, that to do a strictly
hand to band cash business is not
only impracticable but impossible,
and we with it understood tbat ao
ooulIs with parties of a known plaoe
of business, that are alwas paid on
presentation without any foolishness,
is in our opioion cah.
Our collector will call on you and
we hope to have all bills settled in
full, so as to balance our books for
the commencement of the year lffo.
Very respecttully,
