A.aaaM fit it ma tua O'lr Thio to bo aait:d Pr jay et tin Nona Oiollna, Iioalalaoa aod Qaotcia Splandld. Prospects are bright for a large yield of rice, so sav tbe rice planters in the Wtlmingtoa section. Tbe weather coo. dinons have been favorable, and the acreage is larger thaa it was last year. There are unfailing signs of a heavier crop. Sime of the well known pro ducers oi lowland rice are Col. J. W. Atkinson. Governor Rassell. Meters J W. Marchison. Fred. Kidder, F. M Moore and C. . Battera. Encouraging news ia received from all aectiona of the country where rice it cultivated. The New Orleana papers give the most hopeful reports of the prospects in Louisiaaaand state that the crop will be much larger than tbat o( laat year. The Savannan News says ol the crop ia Georgia: "With no storm during the next thirty days the rice planters will be a happy set of men. The prospects for a large crop now are splendid. The harvest water is on and tbe rice is heading up. Rice men say tbev have never seen a finer looking crop and everything promises well for a good yield. "The bot weatber of tbe last weeks, whicb bas made life a burden to every one eite. haa filled tbe souls of the rice planters witb joy. Tbey knew that it meant fine rice and plenty of it. if con tinued long enough. Tbe crop is now assured, and the only thing they have to fear is tbe annual August storms. Tbese storms usually come between An gait 27 and September 5. Ii tbe norm it delayed until September - 12 tbe plsnters can snap tbeir fingers. Their rice wiil be harvested by that time. "Tbe rice area in this section is 10 to 15 per cent, greater than Ust vear. So lar tbe Dmgley tariff bas bad no percep tive effect in increasing prices, though new ric:. wbich is now being received at New Orleans, it bringing balf 'a cent more than was offered lor old rice. It is usual for new rice to bring better prices, however. Tbere it no ttcctt on band bere now and the new rice tbould bring good prices." BASE BALL.
