On account of the down-pour'pf rain yesterday afternoon the conference between the Board of Health, and the Sanitary Committee of the Board of Aldermen did not take place, as was appointed.- It is learned that at this conference the principal matter to be considered is the systematizing of the scavenger work of the city. It is pur posed to divide the city into districts and place jeach district in charge' of some responsible scavenger, who Shall execute a bond- for the faithful per formance of his duty, and act in con-' nection with and under the supervi sion of the Board of Health. Dr.' W. D. McMillan, the clever and' efficient Superintendent of Health, with the assistance' of Health, officer M. The Board of County Commissioners were in session for a good pari of the afternoon yesterday and for several hours last night examining the tax assessments of real estate made by the board appointed for that purpose. It will ba recalled that the unusually heavy valuation by this board called out an almost universal storm of dis approval and the . County Commis sioners were petitioned to mike a re duction in valuation.
