Joe Savasre. a colored engineer on - the Eureka Lumber Company's road, near Fountain, was crushed to death under hie engine yesterday afternoon while returning from a water atatlon on the East Carolina road to the junction. The engineer had gone out orer the latter road to ret water and acquired a sneed of nearly a mile per minute, which he could not undertake oyer tbe narrow rails of the track. The engine after jumping the track and running two haadred feet, left the roauway, struck a stumn and turned orer, catch Inr the enrlneer under It. Three others in the cab escaped in jury by jumping.
