Jno. D. Tsylor, Clerk of tbe Superior Court, and Dr. W. D. McMillan, oounty sup erintendent of health. Measn. J. D. Sidbury and Jailor R. M. Capps were tbe only witnesses, the husband at whose instance the proceedings were brought having failed to appear, and the commission found tbat while Mrs. Beese was highly emotional at times she is perfectly harmless and in pos session of her reason. Dawson, charged with forging checks and embezzling funds of Hackney Bros., buggy manu facturers of Wilson, came up before Judge Ferguson yesterday and a nolo contendere was accepted. F. Rulfs, Sr., whose sad death was briefly noted yes terday morning, will be held from the late residence, corner of Fourth and Walnut streets, this afternoon at 3 o'clock; thence to St. Paul's Evange lical Lutheran church and Oakdale cemetery. Mrs. Rulfs was in the 61st year of her age and was born at Blnmenthal, Hanover, Germany. She came to Wilmington in 1859 and had lived here ever since. She was a consecra ted member of St. Paul's Lutheran church, a devoted wife and mother. Her presence will be sadly missed in the circle of ber friends and acquaint ances. Simmons, thejadge, had his bands full putting up the prise ribbons and the exhibitors were busy in ascertaining who won aad who lost.
