terday from a trip of a few daysto
his old home In New York. Mr. Karr
said he enjoyed his trip very much
but was' somewhat disturbed by sensa
tional stories in -some of "the yellow
sheets of New York," which carried big
stories' of a 'race fTot in Wilmington,
the basis' for the alarming newspaper
reports having been the little excite-1
ment at Fifh and Harnett streets last
night a' week ago. Soon after his ar
rival Chief Williams informed Mr.
Karr, who is chairman of the Police
Committee, that in view of the dis
torted reports of his conduct upon that
occasion, he desired a full investiga
tion of the affair. Mr. Karr said the
committee would probably be called to
gether in a day or two to consider the

Plans By Architect H. E.Bonitz Ac

A long distance telephone, message,
last night from Goldsboro stated that
the plans as prepared by , Architect
H. E. Bonitz, of -Wilmington, forL the
handsome new Odd Fellows' Temple
to be erected in Goldsboro, hadjbeen
unanimously accepted. The plans call
fo"r the erection of a handsome: S15,
000 structure of.: the Rennaissance
style of architecture, providing every
modern convenience, land being pecu
liarly well adapted for; lodge purposes.
Work on the new building will begin
at once. A number of plans by other
architects were submitted in competi
tion and it is a' compliment to - Mr.
Bonitz that -his drawings, etc., were ac
