Florida. . Jacksonville Fla.. Dec 30. Florida today experienced the colde'st weather that has visited this section in several years, ; freezing weather having pre vailed ih Jacksonville all day: Freez ing temperatures extended down into the orange belt, but up to tonight no reports 'have been received of any damage to the trees. It has been cold in this estate for several days, which has . driven thft sap down in the or ange tres and it is believed that they will not be killed or damaged by the freeze. . ; Arcadia, on the west coast, reports a temperature of 26 . degrees while other towns in that section report tem peratures ranging from that figure up to 30-rand 32 degrees. The local weather bureau predicts a tempera ture of between 18 and 20 degrees tonight as low as the 26th parallel. - . In Jacksonville water pipes have burst all over the city , causing the water pressure in the mains to be come low. ' Warmer Weather Predicted. Washington, Dec. 30. The extreme cold which has been sweeping over the eastern section of the country from the tip of Maine to the. keys of Florida is being dissipated before a rising pres 'sure area that is moving rapidly east ward from the Mississippi valley. The first moderation will be evidenced, to morrow morning in the Plains States and the temperature will rise, as the area moves towards the Atlantic. Great concern was felt in Florida for fear that the fruit farms might suffer another destructive freeze such as the ett at iNorioi.K loaay -was me xuwebt recorded there since 1904 and all through the South reports of intense cold poured in. DEATH IN TEXAS., Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Parker, Native of North Carolina, Passes. (Special Star Correspondence.) Garland, N. C, Dec. 30. News was reecived here yesterday from Green ville, Texas, of the death at that place of Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Parker. Mrs. Far-fParker was the widow of the late W. J.
