^B^HE Subscriber, a practical Boot-maker of some ex-
perience, has for some time been sensible that
there is a fiesiderotum to be yet supplied to the public in
the way of a suitable burnish for boots and shoes. Most
ot the articles now used either injure the leather or fail
to impart that lustre so necessary to give to man’s
'■Understanding" a proper finish. He has therefore, dur
ing the last twelve months, been devoting himself to
the task of preparing an article free from these objec
tions, and has at length after much investigation and
experiment completely succeeded. The result is “Gill’n
ne plus ultra Jiurnut/i.” He only wishes that it may be
tested in order to establish its superiority over all
others. Call on him at Mr. Nathan Sikes’ boot and
shoe establishment, on Person street, and be supplied
with an excellent article at a cheap rate.

$100 REWARD.
^I'^WO attempts h.ave been recently m.ade to injure
me pecuniarily, in the destruction, by tire, of ray
Turpentine lands lying on Beaver and Cross Creeks.
One in April last, by which I lost some fifteen thou
sand boxes. One on yestenlay while my hands were
at dinner, by which about 1000 Turpentine boxes were
destroyed. Being thus injured I feel it to be my duty
to offer the above reward for such informalion as will
lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders.
And I most earnestly call upon my friends and all
goed citizens of the county to aid me in ferrreting out
the villian or villians, who, in violation of the public
peace, regardless of their own self-respect and all
social duty, thus wantonly or with malice, attempt, by
stealth, to injure the property of others.

Old Pianos taken in exchange.
Instruments carefully tuned and repaired.
fWIHE Subscribers respectfully call the attention of
B the public to their Grand, Square and Upright
Pianos, of G|, 0|, 7 and 7| octaves, for which the
Maryland Institute, for the promotion of Mechanic
Arts, has awarded the first premium ever awarded by
that Institute for improvement in Grand and Square
Pianos. These Pianos are in large sized, highly fin
ished cases of Rosewood, with entire iron frame, con
structed in the tnost substantial manner, with all the
modern improvements.
The manufacturers use none but the very best sea
soned timber, and materials of the choicest qualities,
that enable them to warrant their instruments to stand
anjf climate.
The Firm has a patent Right action, operating on
such principles that friction is almos? entirely relieved
or avoided, and their piano can therefore never get out

For chasteness of design, elegance of finish, aa well

Wherever these Pianos have been introduced, they
have given, in every instance entire satisfaction.
