Mr. J. S. WEAR, Photographic Artist,
WOULD respectfully annouace to the Ladies and
Gentleme* of Fayetteville and vicinity that he
has returned from the North, after having spent much
time assiduously, in the a>lvancement and progress of
his art, and at considerable expense in getting up ap
paratus. &c., for the prosecution of that beautiful aud
exquisite branch of Photography, which he will now
present to the inspection of his former enlightened
and discriminating patrons. The science of Photo
graphy, or &s more commonly known under the appel
lation of Daguerreotyping, has until very recently
remained in its infaucy, but from the persevering and
energetic researches in .\ctenic Chemistry, of mauy of
its numerous and eminent votaries.—gentlemen both
of this country ami Europe—it is now shining forth
in all the refulgence of the most sanguine imagina
tion, aud is destined to contribute much to the ad
vancement of the arts and sciences generally, as well
as in faithfully and truthfully delineating the Human
face divine. Pictures by this process are considered
far superior to Daguerreotypes.
Daguerreotypes, Crystaltypei, Ambrotypes, Pana-
types, Calotypes and all the other types taken at my
Rooms in the greatest perfection of the Art.
Ladies and Gentleuien are respectfully invited to call
and examine specimens over the Jewelry Store of
Messrs. Beasley & Houston and Dr. Hinsdale’s Drug
and .\pothecary Store, Hay Street, Fayetteville.
N. B. Persons having Daguerreotype Likenesses of
absent or deceased friends or relatives, cau have them
copied of the same or of larger dimensions by the new
process, and as a picture, greatly improved. Pictures
copied Photographically upon Paper, unexceptionable
as a Likeness, from a small and indifferent Daguerreo
type, furnishing tliem either in Light and Shade or in
Colors excelling the finest Engraving in Water Colors.
Prices varying according to size and finish.
